Welcome and thank you for visiting Tech Island Startups. This website is a project dedicated to showcasing fearless entrepreneurs, startups, and communities on Guam, The West Pacific, and Generally cool people I meet around the world. Who are not afraid to fly their passion flags and build their visions through the use of community, ideas, collaboration, and technology.
My name is Andrea Naomi and I’m a visionary who believes in the human spirit and our ability as people to create amazing things. One of my favorite literary pieces of all time is written by Dubois:
Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness, that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, and fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small doesn’t serve the world. There’s nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won’t feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We are born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It’s not just in some of us, it’s in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.
How to join the community. Tech Island Startups is all about community. Infact, we established Venture Guam as a hub to aggregate a community of innovators and creators on Guam and around the world. Are interested in collaborating and finding your TRIBE of people if so here’s how you can do it.
Now that you know a little about the site I think it’s imperative that you know a little about me because I write this dang thing so it makes a whole bunch of sense to share a piece of my story. My name is Andrea Naomi if you knew me as a child you would call me Ara. Which makes no rationale sense but an uncle of mine decided my name was too complicated to pronounce. Henceforth, Ara … It was a made to stick kind of name.
Professionally, I’m a full stack or “purple unicorn” online marketer. I can do basically anything on the internet but my focus primarily is helping entrepreneurs find their passion and build their startup. I give a lot of unsolicited advice and care too much about irrelevant nerdy as hell things.
Personality wise Meyers Briggs would call me an INFJ which is reportedly 1% of the world population and apparently the rarest of it’s kind. According to Sally Hogshead I’m THE SECRET WEAPON which indicates I’m nimble, unassuming, and independent. That’s pretty much me…Now you can pretty much exploit me to the end of the Earth 🙂
In my past life I was a soldier in the U.S. Air Force. I was supposed to be an intelligence officer until I told the super secret service that I once had a late payment on a video I rented when I was 16, they then made me a financial manager (*|* True story). In my life I could have been many things my dad is a govt. big wig and business owner and my mother a teacher. I’m highly opinionated and over-educated. Yes, I’m one of the other 3 gazzilion MBA holders with an accounting background and a half-earned IT Degree (I’m an IT dropout because after 2 years of learning the basics you’re likely better off just doing the rest of that crap on your own, we’ll fix it one day).
Now I’m a Startup founder and Business Owner simultaneously. Because one does not simply Startup with .5Mil in funding because we believe something should exist.
On the boring end of things I’ve built a bunch of websites some still alive today some fallen into the pit of internet hopefuls, thus is the course of life. These are some them…
I’m an early adopter, advisor to some, routinely do most things for free which is often detrimental to basically any business trying to be a business. I also have the writing voice of a sailor -eeek don’t be offended they are just words it washes off- and the speaking voice of an island debutante. Over the years people have said a few good things about what I do (this is a humble why should I even bother listening to this girl pre-qualifier)
So there’s a bunch more like this but I’m going to share a few things with you. Most of these people have become good friends or family. I’ve known them for so long that it probably wouldn’t be accurate to say they’re testimonials it’s more like showing love, despite the fact that I’m pretty good at this stuff. I’m grateful for everyone I have the opportunity to meet and serve. It’s a lifelong pursuit. But here’s a tidbit I hope you remember testimonials are basically a result of things people have done in the past they are rarely a representation of who you are now.
Dang, I just lost a customer (no biggie, I’m building a family here)…
For those of you still around. Muchos Gracias, Hu Guiya Hao, Te amo, Si Yu’os Ma’ase! Today I take on about 2-4 new clients or projects a month. It keeps me relevant and well trained. My biggest focus is showcasing the talent of others and highlighting the potential we have to create amazing things. That being said here is who I am today and what I am to do with this long as heck about page.
Along with Guam’s SBDC and Partners we hosted Guam’s First Hackathon
Hackathon produced awesome ideas, including like a fertility predictor, language translator & Reddit service! pic.twitter.com/U9XHy8RDGr

This was one of our brilliant minds who attended who will undoubtedly be incredibly valuable to Guam’s future and the future of AI
The milestones keep coming because this group is now on their way to creating their first application. Fingers Crossed everything is a work in progress.
In the end the goal is to be a resource, community aggregator, and the architect of tech culture in the West Pacific. I’m still figuring it all out and need brilliant minds like yourself to build it successfully. Ultimately, this entire journey is about and for people and our future.
- What role will you play?
- Will you make the best possible use of yourself?
- Can we truly live the inafa’maolek spirit in our daily lives?
- What will your legacy look like in the end?
Fundamentally, as humans when we fall asleep at night these are the thoughts that linger. I encourage you, bear the cross – and take the
FINDING GREAT JOURNEY
This is my story thus far…I’ll keep you updated as things progress!
